Because of their foreign pensions, they were affected by the Windfall Elimination Provision and Government Pension Offset and waited many years for fairness in Social Security.\n        <br \/>\n        <br \/>\n        Now, after decades of waiting, some retirees are finally receiving restored Social Security benefits as lump-sum payments. Unfortunately, these long-overdue payments may be heavily taxed in the year they are received, creating an unexpected financial burden for retirees living on fixed incomes.\n        <br \/>\n        <br \/>\n        H.R. 7361 \u2013 the No Tax on Restored Benefits Act, introduced by Lance Gooden of Texas \u2014 would correct this problem.
