We call on you to take action to defend the money unjustly taken from your retirement checks by SSA
On Tuesday, April 16, 2024, a hearing on the WEP and GPO was held by the House Subcommittee on Social Security in Washington, D.C.
No final decision has yet been made to repeal the unfavorable and harmful law, so we still need to fight for justice!
Written comments and statements should be submitted by everyone affected. The Subcommittee will include them in the official record of the hearing.
We must make lawmakers aware of the enormously negative impact this law has on the lives of Polish emigrants!
Each person affected by the WEP should write a letter to the Subcommittee describing their financial situation because of the application of the WEP.
The deadline for sending the letters is end of day April 30.

LETTER TEMPLATE FOR SENDING IN WORD FILE
I am unjustly penalized by the WEP. I legally immigrated to the U.S. in _______. I worked for _______ years in Poland and earned a Polish pension. I then worked in the U.S. for _______ years and earned a Social Security pension.
When I went to collect my Social Security pension, the SSA told me it must withhold a portion of my pension because I did not pay into Social Security when I earned my Polish pension.
This is blatantly unjust and must be corrected. Because my Polish pension is $_______ per month, the SSA reduced my Social Security pension to $_______ per month. This monthly total of $_______ is not enough to cover my living expenses.
Please repeal the unjust WEP penalty now. It has severely affected my financial condition and quality of life.
