Call to Action for Retirees (Send Now)

If you received restored Social Security benefits, this directly affects you.

Right now, members of Congress need to hear from the people impacted most. Your voice matters—and it makes a difference.

Take 2 minutes today to send your letter to the 9 Representatives below urging them to cosponsor HR 7361.

These Representatives can help move H.R. 7361, the No Tax on Restored Benefits Act forward —but they need to see real support from retirees like you.

To send your letter, first scroll down to below the 9 Representatives that are listed. Please fill in your requested information in the boxes that are shown.

As soon as you’ve done this, your information will appear in the letter. Then click on “Send Emails To 9 Representatives.”

Why this matters:

Without action, your long-overdue benefits may be reduced by federal taxes. This bill ensures you keep what you earned.

Do not assume others will do it—your email could be the one that makes the difference.

Send your letter today. Follow up again on July 21 and July 28. Consistent pressure works.

Subject: Request for cosponsorship of H.R. 7361 – No Tax on Restored Benefits Act

Dear Representative _________________,

I am writing to strongly urge you to immediately cosponsor H.R. 7361, the No Tax on Restored Benefits Act, introduced by Congressman Lance Gooden of Texas.

Thank you for voting yea on H.R. 82. You recognize the injustice that many retired educators, public servants, and their families have endured for years—often decades—while waiting to receive the Social Security benefits they earned through a lifetime of service. Now that these long-overdue benefits are finally being restored, retirees should not be punished with unexpected federal income taxes on lump-sum payments they were denied for far too long.

This is an urgent matter of fairness. Many of these retirees live on fixed incomes and have already made financial sacrifices because of delayed or reduced benefits. Imposing additional federal taxes on restored payments would create a sudden and unnecessary financial burden at the very moment relief is finally arriving.

H.R. 7361 would amend the Internal Revenue Code to exclude from gross income certain Social Security benefits restored under the Social Security Fairness Act of 2023. This commonsense legislation ensures that retired educators and public servants can fully receive the benefits they earned, without being penalized by an unexpected tax bill.

Retirees have waited long enough. They should not have to wait any longer for Congress to protect them from unfair taxation on restored benefits. I strongly urge you to cosponsor H.R. 7361 without delay and stand once again with the public servants who devoted their careers to our communities. Please bring the repeal full circle.

Thank you,
